Big Z is going home.
According to ESPN’s Kevin Weekes, Zdeno Chara will return to the New York Islanders with a one-year contract.
The 44-year-old Chala started his career with the Islanders in the 1997-98 season and spent four seasons with the team before being traded to Ottawa in 2001. The deal will give Alexei Ya Xin sent to Long Island.
Chala played 55 of the 56 games for Washington last season, scoring 2 goals and 10 points, reducing the team’s role. Prior to this, Chara spent 14 years with the Boston Bruins, serving as captain throughout his tenure, winning the Stanley Cup and the Norris Trophy.
