Alyssa Thomas’ performance in the playoffs last year was legendary. She had torn her labrum in her shoulders. She dislocated her right shoulder in the second game of the semifinals between the Connecticut Suns and the Las Vegas Aces. She still played in the third game, scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Lead the Suns to victory. The popular Ace is about to be eliminated.
Excluding the second game of the semifinals, she only played 4 minutes and 55 seconds. Thomas averaged 20.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2 steals in six playoff games in 2020. This is almost 20/10/5/2 as an average, which is just ridiculous. The return of a shoulder dislocation gave her a place in the sports world as a strong athlete in history, and an incredible six games earned her the reputation of the best player in the playoffs. In the five games of the 2019 Finals, she averaged 18.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Now, Thomas has written another chapter in her legacy, returning early from a torn Achilles tendon on Wednesday night, helping her current front-runner, the Suns, achieve a franchise record 13th consecutive victory. Thomas was considered absent this season after being injured overseas nine months ago.
On Wednesday night, she showed the fans of the Suns the long-awaited Big Three, Jonke Jones and Dwana Bonner, who did not play together in 2020 because of J. Jones as a COVID- 19 preventive measures opted out. But in fact, Connecticut now has the Big Four, and Brionna Jones was also selected as an All-Star this year. The team has a record of 25-6, has secured the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, and is now recovering a superstar.
Needless to say, Uncasville now resonates well.
“It feels great,” Thomas said in an interview with Suns reporter Robin Brown after the game. “I have been watching this team fight. I have been competing throughout the season. I have been waiting to play with them.”
“You heard our audience,” Suns coach Kot Miller said of the moment Thomas signed in. “She means a lot. She’s an anchor, right? The real “engine”. Over the years, we have adjusted the way we played without her, and the adjustments we made when we played with her. You know , We let her be such a focus. So I think the fans admire this child very much, she shows her courage every second on the court. And because of this, she is respected and respected in this fan group. When she went in, you heard applause. We took her out specially so that she can be recognized when she goes out. You see how emotional her teammates are.”
Thomas had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 16 minutes and 37 seconds. She doesn’t need to do more, because the Suns scored 98 points as a team.
“You see some rust,” Miller said of Thomas’ performance. “It’s still fun to get her back. She will put her sea legs under her.”
Miller added, “That’s why we are so happy to be in a few games before the playoffs.”
When asked what she hopes to contribute to a first-class team without her, Thomas said:
“I mean this team is firing. I just want to come in and make them easier.”
On Tuesday, Miller used “optimism” to describe Thomas’ chances of playing on Wednesday. But sophomore forward Beatrice Mo Premiere may have leaked the knowledge that the team will play Thomas. The Suns posted a photo of Thomas on Twitter late Tuesday.
So i asked @CurtMillerWBB To clarify this point, he said:
“It’s daily life, but she practiced well again today, but with that said, we are very optimistic.”
Bri Jones is also very confident about joining Alyssa Thomas and said that she will “seamlessly integrate”. https://t.co/KI3otIgDgr

When asked how close the Suns are to the championship, Thomas said:
“We are there. We are sitting where we want to go. We know it will boil down to us doing little things and coming out every game, rather than taking any game for granted. We have to participate in us 24/7 I know we are ready for the A match.”
