West Indies Women’s Team Announces ODI Series Against South Africa, Senior Spinner Returns

This Cricket West Indies The women’s selection team has announced an 18-man roster who will compete in a four-match ODI series against South African women. The competition will run from January 28th to February 6th. Senior spinner Afy Fletcher left the game after taking maternity leave. Right-handed hitter Mandy Mangru and right-handed mid-pace pacer Jannillea Glasgow received their first call-ups.

West Indies team will arrive South Africa On January 16th, they will start training camp first, then start the series on January 28th. The first and third games will be daytime games, while the second and fourth games will be daytime games.

“Players will undergo medicals and physicals before the final 18-man squad is selected. It’s good to have Afy Fletcher back in the setup. Unfortunately, three players, Britney Cooper, Shabika Garnaby and Shonesha Hector were excluded from the selection for medical reasons.” CWI’s women’s cricket chief selector, Ann Browne-John said.

“The arrival of the South Africa series comes at just the right time as the team prepares for the upcoming World Cup. The team has been preparing and building over the past year, and even with the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, hopefully they can put It all comes together.” She further added.

She also spoke about adding three young players along with several more experienced players. Browne said the system believed it could expose some young talent and allow them to showcase their skills among seasoned players.

“As we continue to expand the player pool, the group includes three young players with no caps. They are Kaysia Schultz, Mandy Mangru and teenager Jannillea Glasgow.
