Left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi scored three wickets before Quinton de Kock scored 58, as South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by nine wickets on Sunday to take a 2-0 lead in the 2020 International Series.
Sri Lanka chose to hit the ball first after winning the pitch, but was fired with only 103 points in 18.1 rounds. South Africa reached 105-1, with 35 more deliveries.
Shamsi is the highest ranked bowler in the shortest format of the game, returning 3-20 in four games.
Spinner Aiden Markram also impressed with a 3-21 score and was responsible for preventing any momentum from Sri Lanka’s top orders. Markram took into account Kusal Perera (30) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (20), they showed a good performance in a bad batting card.
De Kock’s 48 innings consisted of seven boundaries. Markram was not out on the 21st.
Sri Lanka’s leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga won the only wicket-Reeza Hendricks 18.
The third and final T20I was on Tuesday.
