Shui Qingxia is determined to be the new head coach of the Chinese team

Former international midfielder Shui Qingxia was appointed as the head coach of the Chinese national team before the Indian Women’s Football Asian Cup.

The Chinese Football Association confirmed the appointment of Shui on its official website. She will take over the role of Jia Xiuquan. Jia Xiuquan led the team to participate in the Tokyo Olympics.

During the National Games of China in September, Shui has always been his favorite role. Before that, he was in charge of a joint team composed mainly of international senior players. The 54-year-old woman won the silver medal with the Chinese team at the 1996 Olympics and became the first Chinese woman to coach the team.

In Group A of the Asian Women’s Cup starting on January 20, the Chinese team will face the hosts India, Chinese Taipei and Iran.

The Chinese team has won a record nine championships, but not since 2006. The Chinese team won the third place in the last Asian Cup of Women’s Football held in Jordan in 2018.
