Shubman Gill could test midway through Sri Lanka series

According to reports, India opener Shubman Gil is likely to be included in India’s home series against Sri Lanka, where he could be tested at a middling level.

Senior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane It has been very disappointing and their position on the side has been questioned for quite some time. Their defeat in the 3-match Test series against South Africa could well spell the end of the pair.

With Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari also waiting in the ranks, the selectors may be keen to test the young blood. Deviating from a batsman’s usual position can be tough, but Gill has the skill and temperament to do so.

Shubman-Gill’s offensive mentality could benefit the middle class

Another factor in Gill’s favor is that he may be facing a softened ball rather than a new one. That means hitting the ball is easier, and his attacking mentality could mean there’s always the possibility of a counter-attack.

However, it turned into a three-way battle between Gill, Iyer and Vihari. While the latter has the upper hand in testing the temperament of the game, the other two have aggressive lines to fall back on when the Indians find themselves in trouble.

Currently, Gill is nursing his injury in the home series against New Zealand. If he can recover fast enough before Sri Lanka’s visit, the selectors can give it a try at the intermediate level.
