Shrewsbury boss shows elegant gesture of Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool 4 – Shrewsbury 1

Premier League side Shrewsbury Town face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon as they look to follow in Cambridge’s footsteps in knocking the Premier League side out of the FA Cup 3rd round.

Shrewsbury got off to a good start, even taking the lead shortly before the half hour:

But in the end, Liverpool’s strength proved too much. Strikes by Fabinho (2), Roberto Firmino and 17-year-old Cade Gordin ensured Jurgen Klopp’s men booked their place in the fourth round.

Liverpool will now face Cardiff next month:

The elegant gesture of Virgil van Dijk

One of Liverpool’s senior players to be rested on Sunday is Virgil van Dijk.

Now, after the game, Shrewsbury boss Steve Cotterill has revealed the Dutchman’s graceful gesture.

According to Cottrill, after the game, Van Dijk came to the away dressing room to congratulate everyone. He would also bring his shirt, presumably for one of the players:

“Virgil came into our dressing room and congratulated everyone and brought his shirt in. He’s not only a top player, he’s a gentleman, and that’s a very big deal for our players today. Good experience.”
