Ravi Shastri heaps praise on South African batsman Keegan Petersen

Former India coach Ravi Shastri has praised South African batsman Keegan Peterson’s outstanding performance in the recently concluded 3-match Test series between India and India South Africa.

Peterson won the Player of the Match award for the Cape Town twins at 50 and scored 276 runs in six innings, including three clutch 50s, and he also won the Series Player of the Year award.

Following the series win, Shastri said Peterson reminded him of his childhood hero and former India batsman Gundappa Vishwanath. The 72-year-old Vishwanath scored 6,080 runs in 91 Tests for India with an average of 41.93.

Here’s what Ravi Shastri had to say about Keegan Petersen:

Keegan Peterson (KP). Excellent acronym (@KP24). A great world player is taking shape. My childhood hero Gundappa Vishwanath comes to mind #SAvIND.

South Africa chased more than 200 goals in the fourth to secure the series. The cricket fraternity did not give them a chance after the Centurion defeat and they made a brilliant comeback.

Their speed bowling attack was too strong for the visitors in the last two Tests, and combined with India’s middling woes, it was always a steep climb for the visitors.

However, given India’s strong tempo attack, they were expected to win, but the South African batsmen, led by Peterson, ensured they ended up winning both games without fuss.
