Coutinho makes Brazil return in latest squad

New Aston Villa loan signing Philippe Coutinho is having quite the week after completing his move away from Barcelona on an 18-month-loan deal, and is now set to be reintroduced into the national team fold after Brazil boss Tite included him in his latest squad .

Coutinho, who is also expected to make his full debut for Villa at the weekend, is joined by stars from Premier League outfits Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Leeds as the Seleção look to keep their form alive in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.

Many of the usual suspects have been included, with Alisson, Fabinho, Ederson, Emerson Royal, Thiago Silva, and Fred all named in the squad.

Aston Villa push big in January market

With Philippe Coutinho officially in the door at Villa Park, manager Steven Gerrard and the club’s hierarchy managed to secure an incredibly talented footballer irrespective of his frustrating period in Barcelona after he previously shone for Liverpool.

The tactical versatility combined with attacking quality and flair that Coutinho can bring to bear when at his best should be viewed as a massive boost for the club, especially if they manage to secure him on full terms once his loan move comes to an end at the conclusion of the season.

But Villa did not stop there this month, and have also brought in French international left-back Lucas Digne from Everton in yet another boost to both the depth on offer in Birmingham and the standard of quality in what is Gerrard’s expected best XI when everyone is fit and available.

Though Coutinho did not feature in the third round of the FA Cup, it is entirely possible that he will slot straight into Villa’s XI as they host Manchester United at Villa Park on Saturday, given the injury to Leon Bailey in conjunction with both Bertrand Traoré ( Burkina Faso) and Trézéguet (Egypt) departing for AFCON duty.

With both January acquisitions primed for immediate roles in the first-team, this could be just the bump that Gerrard’s men need to get back on track for a top-half finish.
