Indian Premier League (IPL) president Brijesh Patel has confirmed that two new teams to join the league, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, have been officially licensed and have two weeks to finalize them their picks.
The big auction will take place in Bengaluru from February 12-13. Ahead of the big event, two new teams have the chance to sign three players from the existing pool of existing players before everyone joins the auction.
“Yes, both Lucknow and Ahmedabad franchises are officially licensed.They were both given two weeks to finalize their draft picks,” Patel told ANI.
He also confirmed the date for the big auction. “Yes, the auction will be held in Bengaluru on 12-13 February,Patel mentioned. In the same meeting, it was also mentioned that Tata had taken over from Vivo as the official title sponsor of the IPL.
Ashish Nehra, Hardik Pandya join Ahmedabad ahead of IPL auction
Former Indian striker Ashish Nehra has joined the Ahmedabad team as head coach. He previously worked as an assistant coach at RCB.
former mi player Hardik Pandia Expected to lead the team in the league. Pandya is not one of four players retained by Mumbai. Although he has been on the decline due to injury, he is still seen as a huge potential buyer at auction.
However, he may not end up at the auction as Ahmedabad is keen to make him captain. Along with Hadik, Afghan spinner Rashid Khan is also on the radar of the new team.
