New Zealand look to bounce back strongly in their second and final Test at the Hagley Oval, starting at 9, after losing their last Test against Bangladeshth January 2022. New Zealand will be disappointed with their batting performance, especially in the second inning.
Tom Latham came out cheap in both innings and is looking to make up for it in the second Test. Devin Conway scored a century in the first but was unable to replicate a similar knock in the second. He will be New Zealand’s biggest bet in the batting department, alongside Will Young, who beat two and a half centuries in the last Test.
Rose Taylor, he will play his last Test match, hoping to finish with a high score. Henry Nicholls had a valuable 75 in the first inning. He should retain his spot in the XI, and the team expects him to provide a similar inning in the next Test.
New Zealand’s strength lies in the bowling department. In the first test, they looked like shadows of their former selves. The bowler was guilty of not consistently bowling in the correct area. As a result, they dropped a total of 458 points in the second inning.
Tim Southee took just two wickets in 114 overs, while Jamieson took 78 wickets. Bolt and Wagner took 4 and 3 wickets respectively but looked far from the best. Fans hope the bowling team has a better performance in the next game.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be full of confidence. The combined efforts of the bat and ball helped them record their first Test victory against New Zealand. Their next goal is to win the next Test and thus win the series. Considering their performance in the first Test match, it would be foolish to think they can’t replicate a similar performance in the next Test match.
The four batsmen were Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shanto, Mominuel Haq Litos Das scored over 50 while Mehidy Hasan scored 47. Everyone looks good and that should keep the team in good shape. Mushfiqur Rahim went out with 12 of 53 in the last Test match. He hopes to make a valuable contribution in the next big Test match. Sadly, Hasanjoy is injured and he is likely to be replaced by M Naim in the next game.
Bangladesh were equally pleased with their bowling performance. All fast bowlers played well in Test. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam picked three wickets each. Ebadot Hossain created a fantastic spell in the third inning of the Test as he picked six wickets in just 46 runs in 21 rounds. His heroic spell resulted in New Zealand being tied after just 169 runs. He’ll be the man to watch in the second test.
