Newcastle deal huge transfer blow with ‘almost over’ pursuit

Newcastle deliver huge transfer blow as pursuit 'almost over'

Newcastle need defensive additions

Newcastle are in desperate need of reinforcements, especially on the defensive end, and they have the worst record in the Premier League.

Although Kieran Trippier’s addition is good, they need more, especially the central defender.

But they took another hit today.

Newcastle suffer fatal blow

Now, Newcastle appear to have been dealt a fatal blow in the transfer market as their main centre-back target will move away from them. Sport reports Sven Botman will stay at Lille at least until the end of the season, although the Magpies are interested.

According to the report:

Bertman will stay in France until the summer, barring an unexpected twist, leaving Newcastle with no choice but to step up their pursuit of other players from their centre-back candidates.

Aside from Bertman, they are already in the process of making a deal for Sevilla’s Diego Carlos, while Monaco’s Benoit Badiaszle is one of the potential replacements – although the Ligue 1 club is known to be seeking exorbitant price.

Whether Newcastle can find defensive reinforcements ahead of their clash with Watford at the weekend already looks like a relegation six.
