New Zealand refused to go to Pakistani stadiums due to security concerns before the first ODI

Two Pakistani officials said the New Zealand cricket team refused to go to the stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday, where they will play their first international match (ODI) with Pakistan, citing safety concerns.

“Our security officials and the Pakistan Cricket Committee have been trying to persuade the team for several hours, but it didn’t work,” said a senior security official who has direct knowledge of the visiting team’s security details.

Another Pakistani government official also told Reuters For safety reasons, the team is not ready to enter the stadium.

New Zealand visited Pakistan for the first time in 18 years and participated in 3 ODI and 5 Twenty20 matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
