Jayant Yadav replaces Washington Sundar for ODI series, Indian Spinner stays in South Africa after third Test – report

Indian spinner Jayant Yadav to replace washington sanda in the upcoming ODI series between India and South Africa. Therefore, the outsiders will remain in South Africa after the ongoing IND vs SA test series is completed. Jayant Yadav was part of India’s Test team against South Africa.

Washington Sundar was selected by selectors for the IND and SA ODI series.He’s one of the all-around players on the team Ravi Chandran Ashwin and Venkatesh Ayer. However, Sundar tested positive for COVID-19 before departing for the Rainbow Land from India. Therefore, he was not allowed to board the plane.

Jayant Yadav to stay in South Africa after Test series: BCCI official

Leading Indian daily The Times of India quoted a BCCI official as saying that Jayant Yadav would stay in South Africa After the ongoing Test series, and replace Washington Sanda in the ODI squad.

“It has been decided that Jayant will remain in South Africa. There is little time for any other players to enter the bubble in Mumbai,” a BCCI official told TOI.

So far, Jayant Yadav Haven’t played any games in South Africa yet. In three tests, the team moved on with Ravichandran Ashwin as the only spinner and all-rounder. Also, with Ashwin and Venkatesh Iyer in the ODI lineup, it’s very doubtful whether Jayant Yadav can join the XI in the ODI.

Washington Sanda has been out of the field for a long time. The perimeter player was injured ahead of India’s Test series against England last August.He also did not participate in the IPL 2021 UAE leg and ICC T20 World Cup 2021 due to injury. The India vs New Zealand T20I and Test series in November-December 2021 are also missing the bowling all-rounder.

India and South Africa will be locked in three ODI matches. The first and second ODI will be held at Boland Park, Paarl from 19th to 21st January. The third and final ODI will take place on 23 January at the Newlands Cricket Stadium in Cape Town.
