On the eve of the first test match, the Cricket Control Council of India (BCCI) posted a video on its Twitter. In the video, Dravid can be seen bowling at an Indian batsman during training.

Ajinkya Rahane leads India in the first test against New Zealand

Considering the workload of the players, the Cricket Control Council of India (BCCI) has given senior players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and frontline bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami to rest.

Ajinkya Rahane will lead India in the first test against New Zealand, with Cheteshwar Pujara appointed as his deputy.

Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer will make his debut in the test, and Rahane confirmed this in a press conference on Wednesday.

New Zealand will participate in their first test match since they defeated India in the final of the World Test Championship in June.

This will also mark the beginning of the black hat of the 2021-23 World Test Championship.

India also lost to New Zealand in the second group of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup. Before being whitewashed by the Indians, New Zealand lost to trans-Tasman rival Australia in the final.
