IND vs SA: Ashish Nehra criticises Rishabh Pant’s shot selection in Cape Town Test

Rishabh Pants 27 out of 50 in the first game Cape Town Test and played 51 games with the captain Virat Kohli. He tempered his resistance to playing big before tea and hoped to save his wicket. However, the southpaw was dismissed shortly after tea as he looked to hit a wide shot at Protean pacer Marco Jansen.

Pant’s wicket started India’s landslide as they were eliminated by just 223 and Virat Kohli lost a partner at the other end. Former Indian striker Ashish Nehra criticized Pant’s shot selection, saying he should be more careful about the shots he’s hitting.

“India are in a good position for tea. However, lost 6 wickets in 50-55 overs. India lost Pant’s wicket at the wrong time. Pant must have been unhappy with his shot selection. Yes Extra bounce, but he’s going to have to think about the kind of shots he’s hitting” He said on Cricbuzz Live.

The former India striker also explained how Pant’s wicket started to slide in the Indian innings as Kohli was stuck at the other end. He said the pitch did more when Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara batted while Ashwin and Pant missed out on big scoring chances.

“R Ashwin and Rishabh Pant’s two wickets put pressure on Virat Kohli after tea. But India must be unhappy with their batting, especially after tea as conditions have improved. When Pujara or Rahane When you leave, the pitch is bigger.” Nehra said.

Come in at number 8, Shadur Thakur 12 points from 9 balls, including 6 points over the back foot and 4 points from Keshav Maharaj. Nehra was impressed with how the Indian all-rounder hit a six, which showed how unique his shot was.
