Due to the COVID-19 agreement, Venezuelan players are banned from training in Santiago before the World Cup qualifier against Chile on Thursday.
The Venezuelan Football Association issued a statement on Tuesday that all its players had tested negative when they arrived in Chile and after being tested at the team hotel.
Chilean media reported that some Venezuelan players have difficulty producing documents proving that they have been vaccinated and cannot leave the hotel immediately.
The report added that the Venezuelans were later allowed to leave the hotel but chose to stay inside.
The Vice President of the Venezuelan Football Association, Jose Antonio Quintero, tweeted: “Scoring must be done on the court, not off the court.”
Venezuela ranked last with 7 points in the 10-team South American Qualifying Tournament. Chile ranked eighth with 10 points.
