David Wiese returns to the T20 World Cup, this time for Namibia

Former South African all-around player David Wiese has entered the T20 World Cup lineup in Namibia.

In addition to representing the Royal Challenger Bangalore in high-profile appearances in the Indian Premier League, Wiese also represented South Africa in 6 ODI and 20 T20Is.

Wiese’s father was born in Namibia, and because of his first descent, he is qualified to represent the country. Gerard Erasmus will lead the UAE and Oman tournaments starting in October.

Wiese’s last T20I appearance was in 2016 ICC World T20 against Sri Lanka in India. Since Proteas won easily with eight wickets, he didn’t play much role in the game. But he did cause Suranga Lakmal to run out.

Wiese’s international career ended in January 2017, when he signed the Kolpak agreement with Sussex.
