On Friday afternoon, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte provided an update on his team ahead of this weekend’s fast-approaching north London derby.

Gunner Showdown

One of the two big Premier League games this weekend will of course be played on Sunday night.

The aforementioned Tottenham host Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the latest North London derby after Manchester City and Chelsea go head-to-head on Saturday afternoon.

Obvious rivalry aside, this clash is a crucial game for the top four in England’s top flight, with Spurs realising a win would take them past Arsenal into fifth, while having Two great match hands.

Such a result, however, would require a rebound from Antonio Conte’s forces, with the White Lilies just seeing their silverware hopes for the campaign take a heavy hit with a Carabao Cup semi-final exit in Chelsea’s hands.

Dier Excluded / Ndombele Latest

So it goes without saying that Conte wants to keep as many key players as possible fit and available for Sunday’s game.

However, one of those players doomed to miss is Eric Dier.

In a pre-match press conference this afternoon, the Tottenham boss confirmed that England international Dier has been ruled out of the derby due to a muscle problem while he is in good form.

Additionally, a new case of Covid-19 was confirmed in the Lilywhites camp:

Also notable during Conte’s press conference on Friday was an update on Ndombele’s future.

France international Ndombele’s performance in the FA Cup win over Morecambe last week angered Tottenham loyalists, and of course his name is back in the spotlight.

In turn, his manager was drawn to the situation earlier today amid widespread belief that the midfield mystery could move this month.

However, Conte is keen to reiterate that Ndombele remains “a Tottenham player” as it stands:

“Tangi is a Tottenham player at this moment. You have to think of him as a Tottenham player for that reason.
