Supporters of La Liga heavyweight Barcelona took to social media to take aim at a member of the club’s squad on Saturday night.

De Jong is not enough

Not long ago, the Blaugrana marked their return to the game.

After re-establishing a firm footing in European football last month, Xavi’s Hernandez’s troops head to Los Carmenez with an eye toward a three-match winning streak in all competitions at the expense of Granada .

Unfortunately, however, when all was said and done, Barca fell short.

A grueling 90-minute game, the two sides could have further expanded the score, and finally ended in a 1-1 stalemate, and the visiting team was forced to accept a piece of the pie.

For the second time in a week, Luuk de Jong looks ready to coach Harvey and his colleagues. All three points, after a fine header near the hour mark gave Barcelona the lead:

Granada has other ideas, though.

Just as the proceedings entered stoppage time at Los Carmenes, Antonio Puertas scored a brilliant equaliser, dealing a heavy blow to the opponent’s Champions League qualification hopes in the process.

garvey and harvey goals

Behind the full-time whistle, their side had another disappointing day on Saturday, so it’s no surprise to hear Barcelona fans looking for a scapegoat.

Many of the Blaugrana stars failed to cover themselves in glory during the 90 minutes, but one, especially a young Gavi, has received the most widespread criticism since.

Before that, the 17-year-old was a timely reminder of his inexperience in the top flight, picking up an unnecessary second yellow card ten minutes later:

While many have chosen to blame Garvey directly for Barca’s latest pair of goals, others have questioned Xavi’s management.

That’s because the Blaugrana icon decided not to have his fledgling midfielder out of the proceedings early, as Garvey walked a disciplinary tightrope when he was sent off:
