Mikel Arteta’s side will look to recover from a shock FA Cup third-round loss to Nottingham Forest, but face Liverpool’s strong form despite the absence of AFCON stars Mo Salah and Sadioma Inside.

And now, Arsenal’s daunting task has become even more difficult.

Arsenal suffer triple team news blow

Now, according to Goal.com’s generally reliable Charles Watts, Arsenal have been battered as they prepare for the game.

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Emile Smith Rowe, who both missed the FA Cup with minor issues, reportedly did not recover from them in time to make it into tonight’s squad.

To make matters worse, Martin Odegaard is also out now, with an unspecified issue that undoubtedly casts huge doubts over Sunday’s massive North London derby clash.

That leaves Arsenal without a proven creative midfielder in their ranks, meaning Arteta could be forced to start Charlie Patino again, this time in a midfield 3.

Alternatively, he could deploy Alexandre Lacazette behind Eddie Nketiah, although neither option will leave Arsenal fans hopeful.

The good news is that the same report suggests that Granit Xhaka has recovered after testing positive for COVID-19 and should be fit to start in the Gunners’ midfield. If he doesn’t lose his mind, one side may desperately need his experience.
